Our wedding at the courthouse was a lot of fun! It was very sweet and at times a little funny. (We'll share a story about it on September 1st.) We shared our written vows in our front yard under the big tree. We celebrated over lunch at Palm Court in the Netherland Plaza Hotel. After a quick change of clothes and a scooter ride to Covington, KY we enjoyed a delicious Italian dinner at Mama's on Main. It was an unseasonably warm day for the middle of April, so we rounded out our night with a stroll around downtown Covington. The day was simple, but we were able to be present with each other the entire day which was exactly what we wanted.
Our house in College Hill. The address is 6025 Cary Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45224
Think of it as an elevated garden party!! We will be outside, so wear shoes you can comfortably walk in the grass and clothes that are breathable. Sundresses, chinos, linen, etc. are all appropriate. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have specific dress code questions. More important than anything - be comfortable.
Yes! We have rented a tent which will be set up in the street in front of our house. (Don’t worry, we’ve filed the proper permitting to allow for this). We have a pretty big backyard too, which will have yard games and such. We will have two ADA accessible bathroom trailers set up, and access to one bathroom in the house. We are very big on community, so we have invited neighbors to join in on the fun later in the afternoon, so do not be alarmed if “strangers” start randomly showing up – it’s ok and welcomed!
We encourage those who will be partaking in libations to take the bus or Uber/Lyft. For those that will be driving or carpooling, you may park in the Mercy McAuley High School back parking lot, which is located directly behind our house. To get to that lot you'll turn west onto Marlowe from Hamilton Ave, then turn right onto Cary Ave (our street) and turn left before the huge tent (you can't miss it) which is the long driveway that leads to the back of the school.
There's a map at the bottom of this page that'll help you find that parking. You can also park on any street of your choosing.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Mark can be reached at 513.240.2565 and McKenna can be reached at 812.598.6424 -- we can also be reached at MarkAndMcKenna@gmail.com
Yes, kids are invited! We will caveat that not all activities will be suitable for children. Though if you would like your kids to stay the entire time, we would encourage bringing ear protection for the bands later in the evening. Our home is also open to kids needing a nap etc. - it’s BYOBM (bring your own baby monitor).
We live in College Hill, a historic neighborhood with a mix of "old money" and new, young families moving in to the recently exploding (in a good way) neighborhood. Besides College Hill...
Northside: Just south of our neighborhood, arguably the coolest neighborhood in Cincinnati. LGBTQ friendly and many vegan/vegetarian forward dining options. Lot of interesting nightlife as well.
Clifton: Just south of Northside, a solid choice for families because it’s close to the zoo which is absolutely worth visiting. Also home to the original Skyline Chili location and the University of Cincinnati.
Over the Rhine (OTR): The hottest neighborhood in Cincinnati. Some of the best restaurants and bars in the city. Close to Great American Ballpark, Findlay Market, and Cincinnati Museum Center which are all worth visiting.
Covington, KY: Just across the river from downtown, Cincinnati. Also very LGBTQ friendly and lots of fantastic food options.
Thank you so much for traveling the distance for us! We recommend staying in OTR, Clifton, or Northside neighborhoods as these areas are extremely walkable. They are also on the 17 bus line, which will drop you off at the corner of Hamilton and Marlowe, one block from our house. See this page for more information on how to use the bus. Uber/Lyft is also easy to find here.
Of course! We're having the "wedding portion" of the party from Noon-5pm. We're then switching gears to more of a house party with some live bands, karaoke, and a "late-night food surprise." Visit our agenda page to find the perfect time for your arrival and exit, but please let us know if you will not be eating barbeque (or food that meets your diet) between Noon-2pm so we can update the catering costs.
Oof! We feel you on this. It's crazy to think that many of us used to go out at 11pm to start our nights. Those days are long gone for many of us haha, but we'll be providing coffee, a late night "food surprise," and ample rooms and houses (neighbors are chipping in) on our street for naps, outfit changes, breaks from socializing, places to charge phones, or just a change of scenery.
It's kind of a marathon and a sprint, so we'll be providing all the necessary tools to be successful.
In a word, no. We have opted for a few larger items you may contribute funds towards, which you can find here. If you are dying to get us a gift, we encourage you to shop secondhand or handmade. We love art and quirky trinkets.
As a matter of fact, there is! We will have beer, wine, specialty cocktails, and champagne toasts. Please tip your bartenders.
The biggest thing you can do to help is to be in the right mindset. We are trying to clear as many hurdles as we can for everyone to have a good time, but we change your mindset. Don't rush to get here. Take your time. Drive slow (or bus slow), have a coffee, listen to some good music. Be in a good mood.
If you see someone left out of the conversation - pull them in. If you see someone looking for the restroom - help them find it. If you see a neighbor staring, wondering what's going on - invite them to join!
Also, keep an eye on the ice levels at the bar haha.
